More Whirlwind Week and Halloween!!!- October 29-31, 2013

I'm still alive!!!

Barely, but I'm here nonetheless!!

Remember how I called this week a whirlwind week in my last post?

"No, Rachel, we don't. Your last post was back before DVD's existed and Miley Cyrus was still called Hannah Montana."

....Well, I did.

It's been exactly that: a whirlwind of a week. I apologize for not being able to keep you all more updated, but I've been rushing about like crazy trying to get things done when they needed to be. As a result of not keeping track via this blog what I've been up to every day, however... I don't remember all the details of what I did every day anymore. Bear with me please and thank you.

Tuesday involved a lot of homework-getting-doneing. Or, at least, stressing out about getting a bunch of homework done. Spanish class, for example, has been throwing out things due almost every single week, and this week there is something due every class for the next three classes. Including Tuesday. I had my online homeworks due at the end of the day, and the internet connection was making it even more difficult to get it all done. Aaahh!!!

I also finished filming that student film on Tuesday! We only had a few more scenes to do, and I did... ok... I think. I still feel like I didn't quite do my best.

Right after the student film, I rehearsed with my group for the scene we were going to perform in Drama class for a grade... that'll make you nervous. Especially when you feel like the weakest part of the scene because you can't get your lines quite right and you can't figure out what you're doing wrong but you just want to keep repeating the lines over and over until you can figure out exactly what you're doing.... but then you can't, because you're surrounded by people and you don't want to seem like an idiot...

So yeah. Tuesday was stressful.

Wednesday... shoot... what happened Wednesday...

Oh! The day started out stressful: we performed our scenes for a grade and had to do a written component along with the scenes... but afterwards I felt horrid about feeling stressful, because my professor made an interesting comment, "You're actors! Whenever you ever get the chance to show the audience something you should be ecstatic!"

...yeah... I should... Why was I so stressed then? I should be relishing each moment I have to perform and being super excited about getting the chance to do so... is something wrong with me as an actress?? Why was I so stressed??
The scene itself went ok. Wasn't the best, for sure, but I'm not going to think about it for now.

I had my Philosophy discussion session, which was interesting! I like my TA a lot. He can be a bit dull, at times, but you can tell that he really loves his subject, and thoroughly understands it, so that's always helpful! He'll make a great professor someday, if he decides to take that route.

I also found time to work out on Wednesday! Huzzah!

Hmm... what else did I do... I had class...

Oh! There was a themed dinner at EVK for Halloween!! It was ok. The food wasn't spectacular but Jinny got fresh fruit, which made her really happy :)
I think the rest of the night was just getting homework done and chilling out...

Thursday was Halloween, as many of you know. A lot of people on campus were walking around in partial or full costume for the occasion. As for me? I was too exhausted to even think about it... I woke up feeling horrible, just because I was feeling the effects of being so stressed out and being up so late the week beforehand...

My first class was pretty neat, since we had some guest speakers in! But between classes was awful... On top of feeling really crummy, I didn't get very much studying done for my Spanish test. Actually, I studied a little bit about 10 minutes before I walked into the class... I hope I did ok. It wasn't too bad after all, so I'm not worried anymore. But still. Yikes.

And here's the event that I'd been prepping for in attempting to finish all my homework so soon the week before: Lady Windemere's Fan!

I'm working backstage on the crew for Lady Windemere's Fan, a play by Oscar Wilde and also an SDA show (school of dramatic arts). It's the first time I've worked backstage for something at USC. So... yay!!! On Thursday we met everyone else in the cast and on crew, then the crew got to watch a run through of the show for the first time, to get familiar with the story and all. It was very good! I enjoyed it!! I also really love Oscar Wilde. He's my favorite playwright, I think :)

I got back to my dorm room still feeling pretty crummy, and very unsure of what to do, but eventually worked up the nerve/was convinced and figured the risk was worth taking to go to a Halloween party with my friends. I dressed as a Greek goddess, Artemis, in particular, while Jinny was a Fashion Police, Sneha was a cowgirl, Jessie was a tennis player, and Vidhi was the universe (after much debate and confusion. She looked lovely though!). We went out to a house behind a huge auditorium and somewhat nearby the Row.

So... my first college party!!! It smelt really bad, for starters. Ew. Smoke and alcohol and pot everywhere. Everybody smelled bad. By the end of the night, I felt like the stench was clinging to me, even though I had nothing to drink. However, I also saw some people I knew, and got to talk to them more!! Plus they knew people who knew other people. So I made some new friends and spent pretty much the whole time talking. I did dance a bit at the end too :)
I went back a bit earlier than the others with Jessie and one of her friends. We went to Starbucks and then I went to sleep. So, overall, it was really fun!! But the smell ruined it for me a little bit. I'd have preferred if it was quieter and cleaner. (fat chance for college parties, but I can dream, can't I?)

FRIDAY. Are we finally on Friday?

This blog is taking forever. NEVER let me do this again please ok thanks.

Actually, I might just continue it tomorrow. Sounds like a plan. It's late and I need sleep for my 8am class tomorrow!!!

Fight on, friends!
